  • ASSIFONTE engages with EU policymakers on best practices, innovation and excellence.
  • ASSIFONTE defends the core economic and market interests of the processed cheese industry. It tracks market dynamics, raw material developments, and international trade trends.

Legal framework 

  • ASSIFONTE has developed a comprehensive list of additives approved for use in the production of processed cheese. This list has been adopted by the EU Commission and now serves as the official standard for the European processed cheese industry.
  • In collaboration with EDA and EUCOLAIT, ASSIFONTE has played a leading role in creating a manual on the use of cheese as a raw material.
  • ASSIFONTE has established a European industry standard for processed cheese and sees this industry standard as a blueprint for a EU Marketing Standard for Processed Cheese – this will ensure consistency across the industry, serving the public interest, protecting consumers, supporting fair competition, completing the Single Market, and reinforcing the global leadership of European dairy excellence.
