Common Agricultural Policy
The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is the backbone of European agriculture and its competitiveness.
It provides a stable income for farmers, ensures food security, and protects the environment. This is why it’s important that the CAP continues to adapt to the world we live in. The farmer is a key partner in achieving those aims. It also provides subsidies to farmers to encourage them to produce food whilst maintaining high-quality standards. This is one of the EU’s most important policies, as it affects both consumers and producers alike.
With our 650.000 farming partners, supplying first quality milk to the 12.000 dairy processing sites across Europe, dairy is the most important agricultural sector in the EU: Dairy is the economic backbone of rural Europe across all Member States.
As the voice of the European milk processing industry, EDA has always contributed to the various reforms, being in close contact with the EU Commission and all relevant stakeholders to ensure a good outcome for European farmers and consumers.
